The regular monthly meeting of the Town of Tompkins Town Board was called to order at 7:00 pm in the Town meeting room, Trout Creek, NY.
Present:
1. William Layton-Supervisor
2. Carl Stuendel-Councilperson
3. Peggy Backus-Councilperson
4. Howard Buttel-Councilperson
5. Timothy LaTourette-Councilperson

Others:
1. Ronald VanValkenburg-Hwy Superintendent
2. Nancy Roberts-Bookkeeper to the Supervisor
3. Haiya Shahid
4. Rabbiyah Roberts

Pledge to the flag was led by Sandy Gardepe

On motion by LaTourette seconded by Buttel it was moved to approve the minutes of the July 12, 2010 meeting as each member had received a copy.
Vote: All AYEs – Motion Carried.

On motion by LaTourette seconded by Buttel it was moved to receive, approve and place on file the Town Clerk’s monthly report.
Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

Supervisor’s Financial Report
Discussion about Hwy budget overrun due to topping extra portion of S Dry Brook Rd. Ron also proposed to resurface 3 additional roads, but if we crush stone this year ($30K) instead of waiting till next year, there would be no money available to do even one of the proposed roads; Ron decided to go forward with crushing stone.
On motion by Stuendel seconded by Buttel it was moved to receive, approve and place on file the Supervisor’s monthly report and financial reports.
Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

Reports – Superintendent
1. Did headwall work on Rock Rift
2. Did headwall work on Bridge Street
3. Made the turn around bigger on Rock Rift
4. Did ditch work on Readburn Mt. Rd.
5. Made Entrance wider on Alger Rd.
6. Cleaned the pond and put in an overflow drain pipe at Fire hall
7. Been putting cold patch on the edges of roads
8. Took the excavator up to Hamden and put in a 4 inch pipe and headwall. In exchange Hamden will do work with their broom mower.
9. Have been mowing the roads
10. Dan Gehl will be done August 11, 2010

Reports – Planning Board (by Town Clerk)
July 8, 2010, report was read by Town Clerk.

Reports – Supervisor
1. Meeting at Andes Town Hall for the Town Board on August 24, 2010 at 7:00 PM concerning the lawsuit to the City. Trying to get a template about taxes.
2. The Trout Creek Cemetery will be self sufficient
3. We need to create a plan for tracking burials in the Cannonsville Cemetery
4. We have a credit on the bill from Hanleys
5. Letter from Amy Pollard, Regional Representative for Senator Gillibrand concerning a meeting on August 10, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Delhi about issues involving a Federal Agency
6. Kyle – the Board agreed to give Kyle a key to the Town Hall so he can use the computer to look up information for the Highway Department
7. A letter was read from Hannah Wagner requesting Welcome signs for Trout Creek.

Other:
Carl Stuendel gave a short report on the meeting with the Muslim Community. On August 20, 2010 there will be another open house at 5:00pm.

Trout Creek Fire Co gave the Town a picture of their two ambulances as appreciation for the money the Town allocated toward them.

On motion by Buttel seconded by LaTourette it was moved to approve the Abstract of Claims for August, 2010 as follows:
General Fund: $ 2,306.70
Highway Fund: $87,568.62
Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

Reading back of the minutes:
On motion by Stuendel, seconded by Buttel it was moved to accept the minutes as read back.
Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm.

    • The deputy clerk is working on them now.
