The regular monthly meeting of the Town of Tompkins Town Board was called to order at 7:00 pm in the Town meeting room, Trout Creek, NY.

Present:

  1. William Layton-Supervisor
  2. Howard Buttel-Councilperson – Arrived at 7:27
  3. Tim LaTourette – Councilperson
  4. Peggy Backus – Councilperson – Arrived at 7:27
  5. Carl Stuendel – Councilperson

 

Others:

  1. Ronald VanValkenburg-Hwy Superintendent
  2. Michelle Phoenix- Town Clerk
  3. Charlie Koehler – Town Resident
  4. Nancy Roberts – Bookkeeper to the supervisor

 

Pledge to the flag was led by Carl Stuendel

 

Minutes Approval:

On motion by LaTourette, seconded by Stuendel, it was moved to approve the minutes of the Board meeting held on June 13, 2011.

Vote: All AYEs – Motion Carried.

 

Monthly Financial Reports:

Town Clerks Report:

On motion by Stuendel, seconded by LaTourette, it was moved to receive, approve and place on file the Town Clerk’s June’s monthly report.

Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

 

Supervisor’s Report:

The Town’s monthly financial report was reviewed with Nancy Roberts, bookkeeper to the Supervisor.

On motion by Stuendel seconded by LaTourette it was moved to receive, approve and place on file the Supervisor’s Financial Report.

Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

Report – Highway Superintendent

  1. Pine Swamp and Grey Road have had new pipes put down. The DEC advised to place a 5 ft squash pipe which was used and seems to be working good.
  2. Dufton Hollow had a pipe put in.
  3. Crews have been doing ditch work, cutting brush, mowing and working on equipment.
  4. Roods Creek had a small wash out and has been fixed.
  5. Franskevicz Road had water running down it and was causing a wet spot, water was detoured.
  6. Sold York Rake online for $650.
  7. FEMA paperwork being worked on from flood damages.
  8. Boom Mower – Tractor is in Mower should be here middle of this month and they will start assembling.

 

Report – Dog Control Officer

  1. Received a couple of dog calls.
  2. Received a strange call from a resident asking to come pick up neighbor’s dog because they no longer want dog, advised the Resident of Dog Control officer’s duties and stated they would have to bring dog to pound themselves.
  3. 19 Summons for unlicensed dogs have been handed out. .

 

Report- Supervisor

  1. Sewer District information meeting for Town residents that will be included in district will be held July 21, 2011 at 6pm.
  2. Received a letter from Kelsey advising they have Bicentennial books for sale at the cost of $13
  3. Village of Walton Swimming lessons – Town will pay for Town of Tompkins children to attend 1 session of swimming lessons. Town will reimburse families after they provide proof of payment and the Village of Walton submits to Layton an attendance sheet confirming the child has attended at least 50% of the session.
  4. New addition’s floor has been laid. Doors will need to be hung and mop board put up.
  5. FEMA Hazard plan will be July 25,
  6. Contract negotiation meeting dates will be August 1st and 9th   at 7pm.

On motion by LaTourette, seconded by Buttel, it was moved to approve the Abstract of Claims for July 11, 2011 as follows: General Fund: $ 3300.31, Highway Fund: $ 32978.73,

Capital Fund: $ 2807.60

Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

 

Reading back of the minutes:

On motion by LaTourette and seconded by Backus, it was moved to accept the minutes as read back

Vote: All AYEs – Motion carried.

On motion by Backus, seconded by Stuendel, it was moved to adjourn meeting at 8:03 pm.
