  1. I lived in Rock Rift when I was about 8-9 years old. I remember it as a nice quiet town. This was about 1945. There was talk of flooding the town at that time. It is sad to see a town disappear like that. The remains of the acid factory, and the sawmill were there at the time.

    • Can you still see the bridge leading into town

  2. Thank you so much for the added pictures, especially the old one room schoolhouse. What a wonderful little town and such truly good people to live in it. Again, thank you so much!

  3. Looking for a book that was written about the old towns of Rockrift, Rock Royal, before the cannonsville damn, Can anyone help me out. Family Of Moses Edwards

    • You could get a book, I believe it’s still available through the Delaware county historical society, called Walking through time in Rock Rift. I have one of those. I grew up there myself, one of the DeMann girls, and we moved out just before the dam was built. My Dad grew up there, and was a lifelong resident. The book was edited and compiled by Patricia Breaky, I believe, who I went to school with for many years. Hope this was helpful.

  4. I would also be interested in a book about Rock Rift. I doubt if many pictures were taken before the flooding. I live near Albany NY, and the same thing happened to a small community in the area. I do remember growing up in Rock Rift, and still look back on happy times.
