Do we have to apply for the STAR program?
Barbara and Paul,
The only folks who need to reapply for the STAR exemption are people who are over the age of 65. If you are under the age of 65 and have not yet applied for the basic star, you will need to apply for the first time. March 1st is the deadline to apply for exemptions so for this year it is too late. If you have already signed up for basic star you do not need to reapply til you reach the age of 65. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address on this website.
Joyce Ottens
Assessor, Town of Tompkins
As a town resident I wanted to thank Helen S. Zandt for her years of service as the Town Historian.
I’d also like to welcome Lynne Van Valkenburg who was appointed to this position in January 2015.
